Determining Subpanel Loads

So you've decided to add a subpanel but you are wondering what size to install and how many circuits you may need to accommodate your future needs. In determining the load that you may be adding, it is important to allow for additional power usages that you may not be adding right now. Just look back 10 years ago and decide what you have added to your home as far as electrical load goes. Maybe it's a much larger refrigerator, an extra freezer, more electronic devices, TV's or a swimming pool. The point is, your electrical demand continues to grow so plan for future growth as well.
By following my article on subpanel load calculations, you'll be able to configure a usable subpanel that has ample power available for you and your family's needs.
