Looking Back On Predictions

Laurie Orlov’s Aging in Place Technology Watch had a piece 7/25/13 looking back at predictions for home technology from December 2011. I really liked it. Why?

a. Lots of predictions are made, quoted . . . and then forgotten. No one is held accountable. This goes for the tech market, politicians, economics, the stock market . .  . ou-name-it. The Greatest Guy Not Ever Held Accountable: Alan Greenspan, who made a living forecasting the economy before he was selected as Fed Chairman — and regularly got it really, really WRONG.

b. Laurie Orlov, a person I do not know, is really good at writing.

c. Some of these predictions (“telehealth lost its oomph as a market”) were interesting, and the what’s-happened-now results are even more enlightening.
