Days ago, EleBlog posted a link to an IEEE Spectrum article about EVs being, basically, “unclean at any speed.”
Grist.org has now posted a rebuttal.

EleBlog take: You can read each of the original items and make up your own mind.
Perspective here: Until gigantic advantages in battery technology happen, EVs aren’t ready for prime time. Translate that as: I wouldn’t buy one.
HOWEVER: It IS possible that advantages in battery tech will happen — as there is enormous pressure for this, and investment, and from the Energy Storage side as well as the EV pushers.
SO: It might happen, and soon. Just because a bunch of ambitious people haved pushed EVs out into the marketplace — maybe 3-5-7-10 years too early — does not mean you gotta buy one. That especially goes for the Tesla models, which have a lowest price above $50K.
Do you really need to drive around something that speaks to your “green” credentials, spending nearly $60,000 to do it? NO.
SO THE VERDICT HERE IS: Wait.
