Is there a blue-light risk for age-related macular degeneration?, asks the deck on an article in Lighting Design & Application (the official magazine of the IES).
To read it, download the 96-page PDF of the magazine’s February issue — and page thru to p67.
Fast-forwarding to the conclusion:
The principal conclusion from our comparison calculations is that light level and duration of exposure, and not “blueness” of the light source, are by far the most signifi cant factors affecting any potential progression of AMD.
Thus, the greatest potential risk for effects on AMD for the general population appears to be that of daylight, viewed either from outside, or inside through a window
AMD = age-related macular degeneration.
