The Bureau of Labor Statistics shows the following numbers for employment of Production and Nonsupervisory Employees in the construction industry (i.e., the boys and girls who do the REAL work out there):
Feb 2013 – 3,983,000
Feb 2012 – 3,873,000
Jan 2013 – 3,959,000
Yes, the increase from January is small. The year-over-year number is up 2.8%.
NOTE HOWEVER: The February just ended is the BEST February for the gross number of working people in construction since 2009 — when 4,512,000 people were employed in the industry. Each of the 4 Februarys since has been beneath 4 million.
